J & H Mitchell WS is firmly rooted in Highland Perthshire. With offices in Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, and Dunkeld we continue to offer private client legal and property advice, as we have done for generations of clients the length and breadth of the country.

If you like to meet and speak with your solicitor and receive first hand advice, we are proud to continue in that tradition which has been a hallmark of how our firm have always approached the practice of law for the benefit of our clients. And yet, that traditional approach belies our investment in the modern from contemporary systems, social media, talks, communication and technology. Rooted we are but stuck in the past we are not.

Meet The Team

Partner : Paul Keith

Paul is the firm’s Managing Partner having joined the firm in 2013 as Senior Associate. Paul previously practiced in Crieff since qualifying as a solicitor in 2006. He is involved primarily in residential and commercial property transactions, as well as with estates, farms and renewables. Outside of work, when not with his young family, Paul enjoys being involved in the local Highland Perthshire community and is a director of Pitlochry Highland Games and a Trustee of The Enchanted Forest Community Trust. For relaxation, he can be found chasing a small white ball around the golf course or a small black one around the squash court.

Partner : Alan Innes

One of our Partners since joining us in August 2014, after 14 years with an Edinburgh and Fife based legal practice. Alan has a wealth of management knowledge, having led a previous team to the title of Private Client Team of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards in 2011. He has over 30 years’ experience in general practice, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Capital Tax planning and Property, and has a real passion for the law surrounding ‘later life’. Alan is the Chair of the Abbeyfield Societies in Scotland and a Trustee of the Norah Webber Charitable Trust. His interests include sport, reading and film.

Partner : Jamie Reid

Jamie is our newly appointed Partner having joined the firm in July 2023 as an Associate. Originally from Edinburgh, Jamie qualified as a Solicitor in 2016 and has since worked at a number of national firms in Edinburgh before relocating to Pitlochry. He has experience in a number of practice areas and, in particular, property law having specialised for several years in commercial real estate. Jamie has acted in both small and large scale developments as well as leasing work for landlords and tenants. He has advised on complex property issues in both urban and rural areas throughout the country. Jamie also has experience in renewable developments having advised and completed such projects for both landowners and developers. Outside of work, Jamie likes to be outdoors and can either be found on the water or up the hills. He also occasionally golfs but is a keen bowler, having represented Scotland at under 25 level.

Solicitor: Alexander Innes

Alexander qualified as a Solicitor in 2023, having joined the firm in the Spring of 2021 to begin his training. He recently moved back with his young family to the area, having left to complete his studies. Alexander primarily deals with residential property, Wills & Powers of Attorney. When not at work, Alexander can often be found experimenting with new baking recipes or at his local garden centre discovering new delicacies for his pet tortoise. He has a passion for film and can be often seen at the cinema.

Solicitor: Sophie Church

Sophie joined the firm in 2024. She deals with Private Client matters including Executries, Wills and Powers of Attorney. Out with work Sophie is kept busy at home on the farm with her horses and family life. She is very involved training and competing her horses and has had much success on the competition circuit. The pinnacles being placed at Horse of the Year Show 2023, and Reserve Champion at London International 2024. Sophie loves to be in the countryside, whether that be on the farm helping out, hacking out on her horses, walking the dogs, or even occasionally fishing. When she has time Sophie also likes to ski and enjoys curling too.

Trainee Solicitor: Dean Simpson

Dean joined the firm in January 2025 as a Trainee Solicitor. He is enjoying developing his understanding & practice in Property & Private Client matters. Being a native of Dundee, Dean studied for his undergraduate law degree at Abertay University and later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Dundee. His spare time is often spent with friends & family and searching online for the next comedy or theatre event to attend.

Paralegal : Jane Burnett

Jane joined the firm in 2014 as a member of our secretarial team and qualified as a conveyancing paralegal in early 2018, having completed a Distance Learning Course with Perth College UHI. Jane mainly assists Paul and Alan with property transactions. Out of work Jane enjoys playing golf and helping out at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Jane is also the Treasurer of Moulin Village Hall Committee.

Paralegal : Colin Kennedy

Colin joined the firm in 2016, having worked in the banking industry for 28 years. Colin has completed The Society of Law Accountants in Scotland Investment and Executry Administration qualification and deals with day-to-day administrative matters in relation to winding-up estates on behalf the Executors, relieving the stress and worry at a difficult time.

Colin’s interests include sport, especially football which he watches and still plays. Colin was born and raised in Pitlochry, and worked in Aberfeldy for many years whilst employed in banking.

Practice Manager : Angela Robins

Angela is the firms’s Practice Manager who joined us in April 2019, she brings with her over 20 years of Legal Cashroom Accounting expertise along with Cashroom Management experience. Outwith work Angela enjoys walking & travelling with her partner Kevin, reading and a variety of sports.
