Sarah Brown accredited as a Charity Law specialist

J. & H. Mitchell W.S., Solicitors, Pitlochry are delighted to announce that Partner, Sarah Brown, has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Charity Law.

Currently there are only nine other accredited Charity Law specialists in the whole of Scotland.

Accreditation recognises solicitors who have developed a particular expertise and a depth of knowledge in an area of law, and handle more complex work and cases.

Sarah, originally from Dunkeld, joined J. & H. Mitchell W.S in 2010 as a Trainee Solicitor and became a partner of the firm in 2017. Over the years Sarah has built up a significant portfolio of charity clients locally, regionally and internationally, covering a variety of sectors. Sarah is regularly asked to deliver training to charities throughout Scotland, speak at events, and deliver online webinar training sessions.

Sarah said: “I am delighted to have received this accreditation from the Law Society of Scotland. Practising in Charity Law is diverse and involves not only the application of the law but also providing sound practical advice in respect to governance and good practice for charities and their Trustees. It is wonderful to now be formally recognised as a specialist in my field.”

Sarah becomes the second accredited Charity Law specialist at J. & H. Mitchell W.S., which has built a strong reputation for Charity Law throughout Scotland.

Colin Liddell, who is a Consultant of the firm, was the first solicitor in Scotland to become an accredited as a specialist in Charity Law, having been accredited since 2001.

Sarah and Colin are currently the only accredited Charity Law specialists outwith the central belt.
